The First Europeans & the Cigar

In 1492, Columbus and his men observed the Taíno people of Cuba smoking rolled tobacco leaves — the first Europeans to witness what we now call a cigar. Columbus's crew brought tobacco back to Spain, and within a century the practice had spread across the whole of Europe.
